Ken Atkinson is the President of Douglas Sales Associates and has more than 33 years experience in the food brokerage industry. His career began in 1977 as a Retail Salesman calling on local supermarkets. The following year Ken was appointed Retail Supervisor and soon after, Headquarter Account Manager. In 1998 he became Co-Owner and President of Douglas Sales, partnering with John Pavlik and Roni Potocco. Ken is on the Board of Directors for the EFFA (Eastern Frosted Foods Association). In addition, Ken is a member of USA Triathlon and an Ironman finisher. He is a graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey.

John began his career in the food brokerage industry in 1984 after 5 years in Food Distribution to Restaurants and Pizzerias. Starting as a Retail Sales Rep he advanced to Retail Sales Supervisor, overseeing the New Jersey and New York Sales teams, while also calling on headquarter accounts in New York. In 1998, he became Co-Owner of Douglas Sales along with Ken Atkinson and Roni Potocco and is now Executive Vice President. John is responsible for marketing and sales promotion during March Frozen Food Month. He is on the Committee for the EFFA (Eastern Frosted Foods Association) Winter Seminars and is a graduate of Morris County College.

Laura Wagner

Director of Administrative Services

Laura joined the Douglas Sales team in December of 2001. Her professional resume included an extensive background in food advertising and marketing. Although Laura began in an administrative role she transitioned into a managerial one when Roni Potocco retired as co-owner of Douglas Sales. In addition to maintaing office operations, she provides executive support to Ken, John, their principals, and retail customers. Laura is a graduate of Union County College.

History

Chris Christopher and Ernie Hegedus founded the Douglas Sales Company in 1956. In 1993 when Ernie Hegedus retired, Richard Kmec, a long time executive with Douglas Sales, purchased the company. Following his unexpected death in 1997, Ken Atkinson, John Pavlik, and Roni Potocco bought the company. All have been with Douglas Sales for a number of years and are very experienced in the Food Brokerage business, marketing and merchandising.In the early years Douglas Sales began as a frozen food brokerage firm. Over time it diversified into grocery, general merchandise, bakery and dairy/deli departments of the food industry.Another development at Douglas Sales was the expansion of its coverage when it formed a distribution arm, Price Mark Sales, which distributes Avery-Monarch pricing guns and labels to provide additional support to our principals.Tradition is used as a guide to the future. Success depends as much on conserving the past as on planning for the future. So while Douglas Sales is invigorated by past success the able management and steadfast corporate philosophy fortify the present and future.As Douglas Sales advances into a changing world, their marketing expertise and creative services are used as vehicles. A tradition of stability and firm individual relationships are guideposts. At Douglas Sales, they believe this is the best way to ensure the future.

Brad began his career as a Sales Representative for Douglas Sales. He left to work for Kindred Partners, the leading retained executive search firm for high growth technology companies, where he conducted multiple senior level searches. Brad has returned to Douglas Sales to lead the retail sales force, drive growth within existing accounts, and establish relationships with new clients. He is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont.

The core market of Douglas Sales is Metropolitan New York and the state of New Jersey. Its' presence also extends into Southern Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware.A total of over 1,500 stores are regularly serviced. This represents 87% of the national brand volume in the Metro New York/New Jersey Market. Twenty-eight counties are covered including the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Lower Connecticut, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess counties and the entire State of New Jersey. Not included in the 1,500 plus stores serviced are 200 plus stores located in Southern New England, Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware that are supplied by warehouses within our market and for which special coverage has been arranged.
